Mining Pembroke landfill deemed too costly
After a debate over whether or not to cap Pembroke’s landfill at last Monday’s selectmen meeting, the numbers behind an option to excavate the site are in. According to Pembroke Town Administrator Ed Thorne, if Pembroke was to dig up the site — selling off usable scrap metal and getting rid of everything else — it could cost almost $60 million.
